If there are french scholars or even literary societies interested in this author, you could try to contact them. If the translation would need extra polishing, there's no need to that with more than a half a chapter or so that you can include as an attachment. You write a brief pitch and include a paragraph of text you'e happy with. Maybe you feel your translation is mediocre or that the novel has zero commercial potential, but you can't know for sure what they will think. ![]() Why not submit it to publishers, first of all? Publishers and also small literary presses, who might want to publish and excerpt.
